That sounds convenient.  How did you scan the logs?  You mentioned you wrote something, but I am not familiar with how do this.

Walter,

There are log files on your application server created daily with each transaction. These are tedious to go through, but it is possible

I wrote something that scans through them for particular actions (e.g. open the home page or watch list) .. and then extract that information to a SQL table with Date, Action, and user ID.

the resulting table can easily be mined for use statistics to see how many of your users are actually clicking on things.

I found this frustrating, too, when upgrading to 5.5 reporting. And was wondering if the relationships should be deleted or not.

The quick fix I made with the 5.5 reports is customised them to put the phrase (Alumni) next to any person's name that left the firm. This was created with an if statement on the particular field (a pain to figure out the syntax, but pretty easy once you know how)

hi all,

over the Xmas break, I was clearing out my inbox and found this link that someone forwarded.

I was hoping there would be a few people out there using it to help answer a few questions that appeared in my head about InterAction .. but it seems that there hasn't been posts here in a few months ?!?

so ...

1) is there anyone out there ?
2) is the admin interested in getting this forum up and running ?

Let me know,
Jim

When an attorney leaves the firm, either on good terms or bad terms, what is the best way to handle their known-by relationships?  Creating a known-by report shows past attorneys along with current ones, which the attorneys always complain about-- especially if they see a name they'd rather forget about.  I can see on one hand that they have a point, and all non-current attorneys should be "cleaned" from the known-bys of contacts, but I can also see how it might be valuable to know that someone whose business you want to try to get has/had a strong relationship with an attorney who left 3 months prior on the worst of terms.
I'd be curious to know how others handle this.  I know there is an enhancement request to be able to report only on current relationships (or toggle to all), but I don't expect it to be implemented anytime soon.

Hi Walter,

Are you just looking to see for what duration of time people are logged into the Web Client?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the problem of Tikit (e-
merge) continually sending the recipient the same email? It has
happend 5 times in the last 6 months, whereas with our normal business
emails, it has only happened once. I don't have the exact statistics
but we would send far more emails through our normal business email
than through Tikit, so it doesn't make sense when our IT guys tell me
that it is not a Tikit issue. Tikit themselves also say that it is
not a Tikit issue.

In a previous role I would have sent 5 times the amount of emails
through another system (a third party email service provider) and
never had this issue.

We use E-merge 3.5, sending through SMTP server.

the users use on the web client?  What i mean is, if I wanted to know which of my users are actually using the webclient, is there a way to log this or catch and store this information?  Kind of like an IP catcher or something?

Thanks a bunch,

WT

Quick follow up:

I found that IA's "Education Tools" link has a whole library of
downloads, including quick reference cards. Great resource.

We're rolling out IA now and I'm looking for a quick
reference card that our users can use for instructions on simple tasks
like adding a contact, searching, running a relationship map, and the
like.

Thanks,

Geoff
